Past PresenterAlison Wallis is originally from a farm in northwest Louisiana but has lived in the New Orleans area since the late 1980's. She has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Louisiana State University in Shreveport and a law degree from Loyola University School of Law. After graduating law school, Alison was a prosecuting attorney with the Jefferson Parish District Attorney for over 15 years. She worked on the central staff of the Louisiana Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal. She is admitted to the bar of all courts in Louisiana, to the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of the United States. She now handles complex post-conviction litigation for the judges of Jefferson Parish
Alison obtained the designations of Registered Parliamentarian and Professional Registered Parliamentarian in 2005. With these credentials, she enjoys working as a professional parliamentarian for regular clients of many categories around the country. Alison served for three years as the president of the American Institute of Parliamentarians and is a Certified Parliamentarian-Teacher. She is a member, since founding, of the American College of Parliamentary Lawyers, and is now Vice President. She is a trustee and the secretary for the Dahms Foundation, a group that sponsors an intense, mulitple day, parliamentary program each year. Alison served as the President of the Louisiana Association of Parliamentarians from 2007 - 2009 and as the District Six Director from 2011 - 2013. She is currently serving a second term as a director at large on the board of the National Association of Parliamentarians. |
